Job Summary/Objective/Role:
The Solutions Specialist Level 2 will be responsible for analyzing the needs of users and assisting project managers in the development of high-level custom programs. The Solutions Specialist Level 2 serves as a member of a cross-functional team and has responsibility to independently execute tasks on projects. This includes system architecture, system configuration, programming, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of programs.
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the design, integration, programming, and troubleshooting of SCADA systems, industrial and MES networks, and custom software-based automation applications to support productivity and/or quality improvements for our clients. Additional responsibilities include training Level 1 Solutions Specialists, project management, advising PMs/others on technical requirements.
Requirements
- Four-year bachelor’s degree in an accredited engineering discipline or have at least have 4 years of equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Solutions Specialist Level 1 or equivalent experience
- Completed required training and mentorship
- Travel required.
Essential Functions:
- Evaluate, analyze, and troubleshoot existing Manufacturing Execution Systems: hardware, software, networking.
- System Design: Research, understand, and specify/apply commercially available hardware and software.
- System Design: Ability to evaluate and select system strategies to meet clients’ needs.
- Interpret detailed specifications for client MES applications.
- Coordinate with other team members, client stakeholders, and vendors to ensure design intent and cost effectiveness of delivery are achieved.
- Develop detailed system documentation with minimal direction.
- Create project documentation (RAILs, FATs/SATs, SOWs, FDS, Server Configuration, etc.)
- Write operations manuals at the direction of Project Managers.
- Hardware and software, specify and implement with minimal guidance
- Appropriate hardware for system (server, PC, UPS, switch, NAS, redundancy, etc.)
- Software including OS, communications software, drivers, other software packages, etc.
- Update device firmware, Install, license, and patch software, update drivers
- Networking: Efficiently design, implement, and document networks for new and existing systems.
- Backend Development & Support
- Database development within SSMS or similar, Installation and configuration of the software, design appropriate database for client’s application, query data from databases, and maintain live database servers.
- Integration between software applications via APIs/payloads (ERP, WMS, MES, Printing Applications, etc.) and develop a thorough understanding of integration to PLCs and other automation devices
- Develop efficient and robust custom scripting/programming to meet client needs
- Become highly proficient in the configuration of third-party software applications
- Frontend Development and support
- User Interface & SCADA/HMI Screen Development
- Creation of automated reports within SSRS and SCADA reporting tools
- Knowledgeable of recipe management systems
- Awareness and understanding of current cyber security threat landscape and follow Cyber Security best practices
- Upgrade and service software on live client applications
- Ability to breakdown and estimate work to support sales efforts.
- On-site support of for design reviews, consultancy, installation, start-up, and troubleshooting.
- Provide remote assistance for client with technical support to meet lead time and quality of client‘s requests.
- Executes functional tests after system development is completed to ensure quality.
- Startup Verifications (FAT/SAT documentation).
- Provide training to Solutions Specialist Level 1 individuals

- Travel required, domestic and international (10-30%)
- Must have a valid driver’s license
