Senior Industrial Network Specialist

Due to continued growth and potential, there is an immediate opportunity in our Digitalization Group for an experienced Senior Industrial Network Specialist.

Responsibilities

The Senior Industrial Network Specialist will be responsible for the design and maintenance of networks, and virtualized computing systems. This will include the physical setup of network devices, cabling, and other infrastructure. Virtual systems will include the conversion of physical computers, virtual computer development, and server-based architectures. Additional training will be provided on control systems including operator interfaces, PLCs, software, data collection, and security.

Essential Functions

  • Computer installation/configuration & maintenance
  • Network device installation/configuration & maintenance
  • Provide network infrastructure support to routing/switching equipment
  • Provide network infrastructure support to security equipment
  • Provide troubleshooting support for network-related problems
  • Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer requirements and make recommendations
  • Generation and maintenance of system architecture design documentation
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations that explain architected solutions

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate ability to build and maintain relationships with people in a variety of professional situations
  • Demonstrate willingness to travel throughout North America for pre-sales activities, project startups, support, and training
  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT-related field or Associate Degree with multiple years of directly related work in industry
  • Five or more total years of industrial networking and virtualization experience
  • Deep understanding of switch and/or router setup; firewalls; Cisco IOS, and Layer 2/3 devices
  • Strong familiarity with configurations and troubleshooting for Microsoft operating systems
  • Familiarity with industrial protocols (Modbus TCP, Profinet, Ethernet IP)
  • Well versed in command line utilities and logical programming skills
  • System Design skills:
    • Demonstrate ability to quickly evaluate situations and determine overall feasibility for the Company to provide a solution
    • Gathers technical information and use resources, both internal and external, to develop work scope(s) and equipment lists to drive towards an overall solution
    • Proficiency researching, understanding, and specifying commercially available components for use in a total system
    • Ability to evaluate and select system strategies to meet customers’ needs.  This involves matching technology to project needs and existing plant systems and specifications
    • Ability to design systems to a satisfactory state for bidding, purchase/procurement activities, and project execution

Desired Qualifications

  • Ethernet Networking Fundamentals
  • Cisco CCNA/Industrial CCNA certification
  • Virtualization experience, including but not limited to VMWare / Hyper-V
  • Familiarity with automation devices (ex: PLC / HMI) by Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Wonderware, GE Intelligent Platforms, Inductive Automation Ignition, or similar
