Engineering Project Manager

Due to continued growth and potential, there is an immediate opportunity in our Engineering Group for an experienced Engineering Project Manager.

Responsibilities

As an Engineering Project Manager, you will be managing all aspects of high-value engineering projects, as well as having a hands-on role in the planning, designing, and execution of those projects. This position is responsible for coordinating the project team assignments, providing regular updates to all stakeholders and monitoring progress against the work plan to assure that objectives are met. The ideal candidate should demonstrate effective leadership skills with an ability to manage non-direct reports within a technical environment and an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while leading various projects to a successful and timely completion.

Essential Functions

•    Project Management:

  • o    Applies technical and project management expertise while leading cross-functional resources to meet project requirements within established timeframes and budgets.
    o    Coordinates the gathering of requirements to define the scope and deliverables of the project in collaboration with all stakeholders. Ensure a common understanding by setting expectations in accordance with the project plan, aligning the stakeholders and team members.
    o    Ability to evaluate and select control system strategies to meet customers’ needs.  This involves matching technology to project needs.
    o    Quantifies and articulates desired outcomes and measurements.
    o    Commission all facets of automation projects including the main controller(s), operator interface(s), and all related field devices.
    o    Identifies appropriate resources needed, and develops a schedule to ensure timely completion of projects focusing on targeted outcomes.
    o    Implement the approved actions and workarounds required to mitigate project risk events in order to minimize the impact of the risks on the project.
    o    Execute tasks as defined in the project plan in order to achieve the project goals.
    o    Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques in order to keep the project plan accurate, updated, reflective of authorized project changes as defined in the change management plan, and facilitate customer acceptance.
    o    Coordinates the efforts of the project team and instills cross-ownership and shared accountability.
    o    Builds mutual trust and encourages respect and cooperation among team members.
    o    Maintain project controls that accurately reflect completed work against project plans, schedules, and budgets, and ensure user/management involvement at appropriate milestones.
    o    Provides and maintains all detailed project documentation including but not limited to project definition, roadmaps, project plans and testing plans, etc.
    o    Regularly seeks customer feedback, manages customers’ expectations and helps resolves customer concerns.
    o     Ensures users/customers are provided professional, courteous, and timely support and service. Identifies problems and coordinates appropriate corrective action.
    o    Support startups: ensure operational readiness to minimize downtime, productivity reductions, and accuracy issues.

•    PLC and HMI programming:

  • o    Ability to program multiple control system (PLC) platforms: Design, Structure, Logical.
    o    Proficiency with multiple supervisory (HMI/SCADA) packages, both general graphics/interface, and advanced software capabilities.
    o    Install, test, debug programmed PLC with the equipment in the field and provide support for field problems.

•    Demonstrate proficiency with Ethernet Network design and deployment including hardware, software, and security.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•    Bachelor degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience.
•    7+ years experience successfully managing projects of various size.
•    PMP Certification a plus
•    Experience with PCs, Operating systems and MS Office.
•    Programming of various PLC applications and HMIs.
•    Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, documentation, presentation and computer skills. Works in a team based environment and exchanges technical information with management, technical support personnel, and equipment vendors.
•    Must be self-directed and resourceful, detail oriented and able to manage multiple priorities.
