Controls Engineer/SME

Process and Data Automation, LLC seeks a Controls Engineer / SME in Erie, PA, responsible for the engineering, design, integration, programming and troubleshooting of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Industrial Networks for systems to support productivity and/or quality improvements for clients.

Specific duties include:

(i) interpreting detailed specifications for automation and control systems; (ii) researching, understanding, and specifying/applying commercially available components for use in a total system; (iii) developing detailed system documentation for the construction and installation of key system equipment; (iv) performing PLC and HMI programming; (v) demonstrating proficiency with Ethernet Network design and deployment including hardware, software, and security; (vi) providing on-site support for design reviews, consultancy, installation, start-up, and troubleshooting and providing remote assistance for customers with technical support to meet lead time and quality of customers’ requests; (vii) performing Startup Verifications (FAT/SAT documentation); and (viii) evaluating, analyzing, and troubleshooting existing automation and control systems.

Must possess a Bachelor’s degree, or a combination of education and/or experience determined to be the equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree pursuant to the USCIS rule that three years of experience can be substituted for one year of education, in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a directly related field.  Must also have six (6) years of experience in a directly related position.

Must know (from any completed university-level courses, seminars, workshops, or real-world hands-on experience) each of the following: (i) AutoCAD design; (ii) control system (PLC) platforms; (iii) supervisory (HMI and/or SCADA) packages, both general graphics interface and advanced software capabilities; and (iv) Krones packaging equipment.

Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%.

Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
